Number of Women Entrepreneurs Rises in Makwanpur Amidst Government Incentives

Makwanpur. The number of women entrepreneurs and business owners has been found to be increasing in Makwanpur district over the past few years. The rise in women entrepreneurs in Makwanpur is attributed to the government's provision of only a 50 percent fee for the registration of businesses operated by women.

According to Ram Prasad Bhusal, Chief of the Office of Industry and Commerce, out of the three hundred four new industries registered in Makwanpur in the first eight months of the fiscal year 2080/83, 168 businesses were registered in the names of women.

The businesses registered in the names of women are mostly general stores, tailoring shops, and beauty parlors, while the industries are predominantly in agriculture and fish and livestock farming.

Chief Bhusal stated that the increase in the registration of cottage and small-scale industries is also due to reasons such as the government providing fee exemptions for industries registered in women's names, stricter enforcement by local administration for industry and business registration, and the potential for easier loan investment in industries and businesses from banks and financial institutions.

The Office of Industry and Commerce reported that during the same period, 40 industries had name transfers, 15 had location transfers, 948 were renewed, 43 received duplicates, 73 had their records canceled, and 28 had their objectives amended.

Furthermore, Chief Bhusal mentioned that during the same period, in the commerce sector, there were five name transfers, seven industry location transfers, 27 capital increases for industries, 1,054 industry renewals, 93 industry record cancellations, and 37 objective amendments for industries.

Chief Bhusal stated that revenue of Rs 13,184,159 was collected during this period from titles such as new industry and commerce registration, renewal, and record cancellation.
