Clashes Erupt as CPN-UML Supporters Protest Arrest of Former PM KP Sharma Oli in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. Clashes erupted between CPN-UML cadres and police during a protest held in Kathmandu on Saturday against the arrest of former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Following the clashes, police arrested seven protesters, and one person was injured.

Clashes between protesters and police occurred in areas including Babar Mahal, Baneshwor, and Maitighar. The protesters blocked roads by setting tires on fire, demanding the unconditional release of Oli.

According to information provided by SP Pawan Bhattarai of the Kathmandu District Police Range, seven CPN-UML protesters were arrested from the Babar Mahal area. He informed that all seven arrested individuals are being held at the Kathmandu District Police Range, Bhadrakali.  

One protester was injured in the clash with the police today. SP Bhattarai informed that although the injured person sustained a head injury, they were discharged after treatment.

Police fired one round of tear gas to control the demonstration. CPN-UML cadres held demonstrations in various parts of the country today to protest Oli's arrest.
