Kathmandu –The National Hero Bhimsen Thapa Memorial Foundation has decided to confer this year's the Bhimsen Thapa Memorial Award on British historian Dr John Helpton.
Dr Helpton is being honoured with the award in recognition of his special contribution to the deep study and research of Nepal's history and presenting it before the world through writings, the Foundation has stated in a press release.
The award carrying a purse of Rs 51,111 and a citation in copper plaque would be presented to Dr Helpton on July 25 amidst a programme commemorating the 243rd Bhimsen Thapa Memorial Day in Kathmandu.
Dr Helpton has published many books and research-based articles on various historical aspects of Nepal.
