Kathmandu Security Heightened After Cabinet Decides to Implement Gauribahadur Karki Commission Report

Kathmandu. Following the decision of the newly formed Council of Ministers to implement the report of the Gauribahadur Karki Commission, security arrangements in the Kathmandu Valley have been made extremely tight. After the government's decision, the newly appointed Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has initiated an emergency discussion with the chiefs of the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force to review potential security challenges and formulate an integrated strategy.

According to high-level security sources, Home Minister Gurung, Nepal Police Inspector General (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki, and Armed Police Force Inspector General Raju Aryal are currently holding discussions at APF Chief Aryal's private residence in Naxal. This meeting is viewed as a strong coordination and preparation effort among the security agencies to face any situation that might develop following the government's decision.

Earlier, on Friday evening itself, both the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force had issued internal circulars to their subordinate units, directing them to remain on 'High Alert'. Sources have informed that all security units stationed in the Valley have been kept on standby.

This entire security preparation follows the decision made in the first meeting of the newly formed Council of Ministers led by Balen Shah held today. The meeting decided to implement the report of the commission led by Gauribahadur Karki, which was formed to investigate incidents that occurred during the Gen-G movement. Security agencies have adopted high vigilance, anticipating that the implementation of this report could lead to protests and political tension.
