Balen Shah Set to Take Oath as New Prime Minister Today

Kathmandu. The country is set to get a new Prime Minister today. It has been reported that a program has been scheduled at the President's Office, Shital Niwas, this afternoon where President Ramchandra Paudel will administer the oath of office to Balen Shah, the senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

Prior to this, leader Shah will be formally informed of his appointment as Prime Minister. This single-party government is being formed in accordance with Article 76 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal.

According to the President's Office, the oath-taking ceremony for the Prime Minister's office and secrecy is scheduled for the afternoon. Representatives from various political parties, diplomatic missions stationed here, civil society, and high-ranking government officials have already been invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony. It is understood that the ministers will also be sworn in immediately following the Prime Minister's oath.

Balen Taking Oath as Prime Minister on Auspicious Occasion

In the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21, the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured victory in 182 seats. The party had only selected leader Shah as its parliamentary party leader on Thursday.

In the House of Representatives election, leader Shah won by securing 68,348 votes from Jhapa Constituency No. 5. On Thursday, the senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narsingh KC, administered the oath of office and secrecy to the members of parliament.
