Constitutional Expert Slams Commission Report on 'Genji' Protests

Kathmandu. Constitutional expert Bhim Arjun Acharya has criticized the report of the commission investigating the 'Genji' protests. Acharya took a swipe at the report by writing a status update on the social media platform Facebook on Thursday evening.

He wrote, 'It's like a lazy student was asked to write an essay about a cow, but submitted an essay about a donkey saying, 'Four legs match, right?' That's what the investigation commission's report is like.' He stated that the commission succeeded in completely diverting the sensitive crimes and sedition of August 23 and 24, making it seem like nothing happened that day.

He further wrote, 'This was the desire of the planners and those involved in the incident; perhaps it has been fulfilled. The country has still not become like a country.' He also mentioned that state officials, sustained by public taxes, are acting and appearing as servants to others rather than to the nation and its people.

A committee led by former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki was formed to investigate the 'Genji' movement. The government has decided to make the report public, but it has already been published in the media.
