Man Arrested for Gambling at Casino in Bhairahawa, Nepal

Butwal. A person has been arrested while gambling at a casino operating in Asian Buddha in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi. On Thursday, 36-year-old Rol Bahadur Shrestha from Sindhupalchowk was arrested while gambling inside the casino.

He was arrested despite the prevailing rules regarding casinos prohibiting Nepali citizens from entering and gambling. The police have taken Shrestha into custody and are holding him at the District Police Office, Bhairahawa, for investigation.

SP Janak Shahi of the District Police Office, Rupandehi, informed that a five-day remand has been extended to register a case under the Gambling Act and conduct further investigation against him.

According to the police, Shrestha initially used an Indian identity card to enter the casino. However, legal action was initiated after a Nepali citizenship certificate was found during the inspection of his mobile phone.

About 10 casinos are currently in operation in Bhairahawa.
