Independent Lawmaker Mahabir Pun Prioritizes Education Reform in Parliamentary Tenure

Kathmandu. Newly elected independent Member of Parliament (MP) Mahabir Pun has made it clear that the primary focus of his parliamentary term will be the reform of the education sector. Speaking to journalists upon arriving at Singha Durbar for the oath-taking ceremony, Pun stated that ending the rampant politicization in education is his main agenda.

‘There is a mountain of work to be done, too much to list,’ he said, ‘but my main goal will be to remove the politicization happening, especially in the education sector.’

He mentioned that he has always had a nature of doing whatever life throws at him and not backing down from challenges. He stated that he cannot definitively say what his role will be in the future or how he will proceed.

‘No one knows the future, perhaps only God knows,’ Pun added, ‘Therefore, there is no point in making grand statements right now about what I will or will not do.’
