Koshi Province Cabinet Approves Regulations, Public Holidays for 2083 BS

Biratnagar. The cabinet meeting of the Koshi Province government held today made various decisions. According to Indra Mani Parajuli, the Minister for Home Affairs and Law of the Koshi Province government, the meeting approved decisions including the endorsement of the Provincial Building Regulation 2082.

Likewise, the government also approved the public holidays to be observed in the year 2083 BS. The meeting also decided to approve the determined limits for the distribution of financial equalization grants and vehicle tax.

Minister Parajuli informed that it was also decided to deposit NPR 150 million into the disaster fund held by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Law for the reconstruction of areas damaged by floods and landslides on Ashoj 18 and 19, and by windstorms on Chaitra 1 and 2.

He stated that a decision was also made regarding public holidays to be observed across the province. The meeting also decided to grant holidays for Siruwa Festival (Baisakh 2), Kojagrat Purnima (Kartik 8), Falgunanda Jayanti (Kartik 25), Chhath Festival Conclusion (Kartik 30), Radha Krishna Rath Yatra (Bhadra 20), a public holiday only for women across the province in Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, and Udayapur (Bhadra 30, Tuesday, Rishi Panchami), public holidays only for various castes and communities (Dhimāl community's Sirijat on Asar 2), Jhangar's Karam Puja (Ashoj 6), Kulung Rai community's (Pus 15), Santhal community's Soharay (Falgun 8), and Majhi community's Ladi Puja (18 Falgun).
