Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Dr. Bishwa Nath Poudel Addresses Resignation Rumors with Sarcasm

Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Dr. Bishwa Nath Poudel has responded to the ongoing discussions and rumors surrounding his resignation in a sarcastic manner. Speaking at a banking training program organized by the Nepal Economic Journalists Association (NEFEJ) and the central bank, Governor Poudel stated that no one has yet asked him to resign.

He said, 'I feel that one should not be overly concerned with whether one exists or not. All positions are temporary. This is not something one comes to do for a lifetime.' Governor Poudel argued that every position has a set time for arrival and departure, and one should not be too attached to a post.

He added, 'One should not have excessive attachment to anything. I have received the responsibility; this is a fact.'

'I have only seen it written in the media; no one has asked me whether I will resign or not, nor has anyone said that they have come [to ask for it],' he said.

He mentioned that since he holds a public office, he takes the curiosity of the people and media discussions naturally, adding that he is conscious of his tenure and responsibilities.
