Rastriya Swatantra Party Central Committee Meeting Scheduled Amidst Leadership Selection Buzz

Kathmandu. The central committee meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is scheduled to convene today, immediately followed by a meeting of the parliamentary party. The RSP has called the central committee meeting for 4 PM today at the central office in Banasthali to select the parliamentary party leader and discuss various agendas.

On Poush 13, a 7-point agreement was reached with the former Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balen Shah. Point number 4 of the agreement stated that Rabi Lamichhane would be the party chairman and Balen would be the candidate for the future Prime Minister.

Secretariat member Ganesh Parajuli informed that, in accordance with the 7-point agreement reached previously, the parliamentary party meeting will elect Balen as the party leader.

Newly elected members of parliament are scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy at the Parliament Building in Singha Durbar today. Since Balen is preparing to take the oath of office as Prime Minister on Friday, the party will inform the President's Office about the selection of him as the parliamentary party leader before that.

As the RSP secured a clear majority in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21, President will appoint Balen as Prime Minister in accordance with Article 76(1) of the Constitution.
