Police Conclude No Gang Rape in Death of 16-Year-Old Inisha, Recommend Life Imprisonment for Primary Suspect

Surkhet. The Surkhet police have submitted the investigation report regarding the case of 16-year-old Inisha B.K., who was allegedly raped and murdered, to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

‎The police concluded in the report that Inisha was not subjected to gang rape. ‎It is stated that the death occurred due to severe bleeding caused by the tearing of a sensitive organ during forcible intercourse by a 16-year-old boy claiming to be Inisha's boyfriend. The police have recommended life imprisonment against him on charges of forcible rape and homicide.

‎Inisha, originally from Gurbhakot Municipality-6 Badakhola, was currently living with her family in Birendranagar Municipality-1.

‎She left home on Saturday, Falgun 23, at 6 AM saying she was going for tuition, and was found unconscious around 9 AM in the Janajagaran Community Forest, north of Birendranagar Municipality-4.

‎Doctors at the Provincial Hospital pronounced her dead upon arrival. The police arrested the 16-year-old minor from the scene that same day.

‎‎The post-mortem report conducted by the team of forensic expert Dr. Arbin Shakya from Bheri Hospital, Banke, at the Provincial Hospital Surkhet, stated that the death was caused by excessive bleeding due to the tearing of the deceased's sensitive organ during forcible intercourse.‎

‎The interpretation of the report stated that there were injuries to the genital parts, meaning excessive bleeding occurred due to injuries to the vagina, including the hymen and the uterus.‎

‎Inisha's family and relatives alleged gang rape and murder, filing a complaint against three others on Falgun 24. The police arrested those three minors the same day. They are all minors.‎

The main accused minor stated during interrogation that he called the other three for help after Inisha became unconscious and needed to be taken to the hospital.

‎However, the police have submitted the report to the Public Prosecutor's Office recommending a homicide case against them.

‎‎'The recommendation is to proceed with a homicide case against them on the grounds that they failed to help get Inisha to the hospital in time and failed to inform the police and family in time,' a police official told Ratopati. 'Which specific section applies to the rest, and what sentence will be imposed will be decided by the court via the Public Prosecutor's Office.'‎

‎‎According to him, the recommendation to move forward with a homicide case against them is based on their suspicious statements and role at the scene.‎

‎‎'Other issues have also emerged during the investigation; the court will look into everything tomorrow and give a decision after examining it,' he said.‎

‎The police also stated that several technical reports are yet to arrive.

The investigation into the incident involved CIB, polygraph, and other expert teams. Surkhet police stated that some of those reports need to be sent abroad for study, meaning the investigation is still ongoing.
