Landslide During Road Expansion in Nuwakot Kills One, One Missing

Nuwakot. One person has died after being buried in a landslide that occurred this afternoon during road expansion in Gaujeni, Shivapuri Rural Municipality-3, Nuwakot. Search is underway for another person who is missing.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Vikram Lama of the District Police Office, 35-year-old local Phoolman Tamang died on the spot after being buried in the landslide that fell from above during the expansion of the road section from Maidan to Lapse in Gaujeni.

Twenty-four-year-old Amrit Tamang, the excavator operator from Lalitpur who was working on the road expansion, is missing after being buried in the landslide. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and local residents have been mobilized to search for him. Police stated that Tamang had arrived in Nuwakot to operate the excavator only a few days ago.
