Karnali Province Government to Formulate Ten-Year Education Plan

Surkhet. The Karnali Province Government is set to formulate a ten-year education plan. The Ministry of Social Development of the provincial government is preparing the ten-year education plan for the academic years 2082/083 to 2091/092.

Suvarna Khadka, Chief of the Education Development Division of the Ministry, informed that a decision has been made to submit the final draft prepared by the task force formed by the ministry for implementation.

He stated that the plan has been formulated with the vision, 'Sufficient investment in educational infrastructure for quality education: the main basis for a prosperous province and happy Karnali residents.' He added, 'Its objective is to produce highly happy, skilled, and committed human resources through knowledge, skills, and positive thinking mediums, through which we expect Karnali to be upgraded from a least developed province to a developing province.'

According to him, the education sector plan aims to implement the fundamental right related to education and develop capable leadership human resources in various sectors through higher education to build a knowledge-based society and economy.

Division Chief Khadka stated that the objective is to create skilled entrepreneurial human resources through opportunities in technical and vocational education and training, and to provide opportunities for citizen literacy education and lifelong learning.

Minister for Social Development Ghanshyam Bhandari stated that efforts are being made to create a planned framework to implement the constitutional fundamental rights in the education sector and to streamline quality and lifelong education. He mentioned that the ministry's budget will be prioritized in the coming days for the implementation of the plan, and this will provide a clear roadmap regarding the status of Karnali Province's education in the next ten years.

He said, 'The role of the government alone is not enough for the implementation of the plan; the cooperation of everyone is essential. For this, teachers, students, parents, educational organizations, and all bodies at the federal, provincial, and local levels must become responsible.' According to him, this plan aims to make the education sector free from fear, discrimination, and abuse, safe, and adaptable to diversity, creating a learning-friendly and technology-friendly environment for students.
