Deuba Faction Insists on Awaiting Court Verdict Before Holding Congress General Convention

Kathmandu. The faction led by former President Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that the regular general convention of the party should not be held until the verdict on the party's official authority case pending in the court is delivered.

On the very day the Central Working Committee, elected through a special general convention, publicized the schedule for the regular general convention, Deuba faction leader Shyam Kumar Ghimire reacted on Tuesday that they are not in favor of proceeding to the regular general convention without a verdict on the case regarding the party's authority pending in the Supreme Court.

Ghimire, who is also a former Member of Parliament of the Nepali Congress, asserted that after the court's decision, whichever faction receives the authority should proceed by completing the regular general convention. He also stated that there is no alternative for both factions of the Congress to move forward unitedly. Leader Ghimire also pressured the Supreme Court to expedite the verdict on the case concerning the authority of the Nepali Congress.

Leader Ghimire further stated that the Supreme Court has no alternative but to expedite the verdict on that case to gain the trust of the public. He also accused that the Nepali Congress suffered a shameful defeat in the election by ignoring Deuba.
