Police Fire Shots in Bardiya After Locals Block Postal Highway

Police opened fire in Bardiya after locals obstructed the Postal Highway. DSP Promesh Bista of the District Police Office, Bardiya, told Ratopati that aerial firing was conducted after locals pelted stones at the police.

Three to four days ago, two youths went home after consuming intoxicants and later fell ill. Following their deaths during treatment, locals blocked the road in Ganeshpur demanding compensation.

It is suspected that they were drug users. Police are investigating the cause of their deaths.
