Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa Denies Resigning Under Duress

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa stated that he did not resign in haste or out of desperation.

Speaking at the working committee meeting ongoing at the party's central office on Tuesday, President Thapa made this statement. He mentioned that the party went into elections under his leadership following the special general convention and clarified that the comments being made regarding the results were not his concern.

He stated that although he was in the mood to resign immediately after the House of Representatives election was completed, the election process caused a delay. He asserted that he resigned based on responsibility and accountability, not due to any pressure.

He stated that the Congress was placed in the role of the main opposition through the election and emphasized that this responsibility must be fulfilled in a significant manner.
