Lumbini Province Announces Public Holiday for Chaitra Dashain Festival

Dang. The Lumbini Province Government has decided to grant a public holiday across the province on Thursday, Chaitra 12. The provincial government announced this holiday on the occasion of Chaitra Dashain (Shukla Ashtami), a festival observed by followers of Hinduism.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Law issued a notice informing that the holiday will be observed in all government offices and public bodies within the province. The ministry clarified that this holiday is being granted in accordance with the prior decision and notice dated Chaitra 21, 2081, mentioned in Section 14, Part 3, Clause 8 of the Provincial Gazette. The notice, signed by Law Officer Laxman Bhandari, stated that the public holiday arrangement has been made to facilitate the residents of the province in celebrating the festival, considering the religious and cultural significance of Chaitra Dashain.

Chaitra Dashain is particularly regarded as a festival for worshipping the Goddess in her form of power. Special fairs and pujas are held at various Shakti Peethas and temples across Lumbini Province on this day.
