Nepal Stock Exchange Index Sees Marginal Rise; Trading Volume Reaches NPR 15.78 Billion

Kathmandu. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index saw a slight increase on Monday. Today, the NEPSE index rose by 5.01 points to reach 2,936.56.

On this day, shares of 342 companies were traded, totaling 38,073,945 units in 156,381 transactions, amounting to a total turnover of NPR 15,786,313,440.

Today, the share prices of 102 companies increased, while 154 companies saw their prices decline. The share prices of 8 companies remained stable. Four companies hit a positive circuit breaker of 10 percent today.

In terms of turnover amount, Kumari Bank Limited topped the chart today. The bank's shares were traded for over NPR 672.3 million.

Similarly, Shivam Cement saw transactions worth NPR 606.4 million, National Hydro Power NPR 574.8 million, NRN Infrastructure NPR 549.8 million, and Ngadi Group Power NPR 543.3 million.

Meanwhile, out of the 13 sub-groups traded today, the indices of 7 groups increased, while 6 groups saw their indices decline.

The most significant improvement was seen in the Manufacturing and Processing group today. The index for this group increased by 154.43 points, or 1.53 percent, reaching 10,233.30 points. Furthermore, the Hydropower group index rose by 37.71 points (0.96%), while the Mutual Fund index increased by 0.88 percent and the Investment group by 0.72 percent. Slight improvements were also observed in the Microfinance and Finance groups.

On the declining side, the Hotel and Tourism group experienced the largest drop. Its index fell by 67.69 points, or 0.86 percent. The Trading group index also dropped by 24.12 points (0.63%).

The Development Bank group fell by 32.37 points (0.50%) and the Life Insurance group by 65.62 points (0.47%). The index for the Banking group, which holds the main share of the market, also declined by 4.36 points (0.27%) today. The Non-Life Insurance group saw a marginal decline of 0.04 percent.
