Newly Elected Rastriya Swatantra Party Lawmakers in Kavrepalanchok Conclude Voter Thank You Tours, Gathering Citizen Grievances

KAVREPALANCHOK. The newly elected Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmakers in both House of Representatives constituencies of Kavrepalanchok have reached the final stages of their 'Meet and Thank You' programs with voters. They are not only thanking the voters but are also collecting citizens' problems, complaints, and suggestions.

In the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21, RSP's Madhu Kumar Chaulagai won by a wide margin in Constituency No. 1, and Badan Bhandari won in Constituency No. 2. Having been elected by an overwhelming majority of votes from the citizens in their respective areas, both lawmakers are currently meeting their constituents to express their gratitude. "Wherever I go, I find that citizens have high expectations," said Chaulagai, the lawmaker for Constituency No. 1. He stated that voters openly shared their old and new problems with him. "I am also making plans for work based on the problems, complaints, and suggestions of the citizens," he said.

Chaulagai secured 29,618 votes. His closest competitor, Guna Raj Muktan of the Nepali Congress, was defeated by a margin of 10,452 votes. Chaulagai mentioned that because most areas are geographically remote, the main problems citizens face relate to drinking water and roads.

He said, "I take this as the result of the desire of the people of Kavre for good governance and prosperity; it seems I have a lot of hard work to do for the citizens." During his visits, he has been committing to becoming a servant of the citizens and focusing on development construction. A resident of Chaundedurali Rural Municipality-5, he was a lawyer by profession.

Similarly, Constituency No. 2 lawmaker Bhandari stated that he has nearly concluded his meetings with voters in almost all local levels and villages in his constituency. He also mentioned that wherever he went, local citizens expressed great expectations from him.

"I have received many problems related to farmers; I see the need to move forward in a planned manner to solve those problems," he said. Bhandari reported receiving complaints that farmers are suffering greatly due to not receiving chemical fertilizers on time, receiving insufficient amounts even when available, irrigation problems, and not finding markets for their produce, and receiving inadequate prices even for milk, putting both their hard work and investment at risk.

Constituency No. 2 has significantly more arable land compared to Constituency No. 1. Bhandari sees this as natural for the prevalence of farmers' issues. He said, "But the problems encountered seem to be years old; it appears that farmers' issues must be prioritized." After hearing similar problems and complaints from the majority of farmer voters, he stated that he is also concerned about the issues affecting the majority of farmers.

Lawmaker Bhandari also expressed his commitment to doing his best to capitalize on the good potential for agriculture and tourism in his constituency, which could benefit the entire district, noting that current utilization is inadequate.

"I will move forward by prioritizing problems related to roads, drinking water, health, and education," he said. He was elected by securing 53,344 votes. In that constituency, his competitor, Madhu Prasad Acharya of the Nepali Congress, received 17,868 votes. Bhandari, a resident of Bhumlul Rural Municipality-2 Simthali, has been active in politics for a decade and a half. Voters say they are eager to see the working style and pace of development of the 33-year-old Bhandari.
