Police Arrest Gang Involved in Jewelry Theft in Lalitpur, Including Gold Shop Owner

Police have arrested a gang involved in stealing gold and silver jewelry from the rented room of a couple residing in Janaki Tole, Mahalaxmi Municipality-4, Lalitpur. The police have also taken into custody the individuals involved in the theft as well as the owner of a gold shop who purchased the stolen goods.

On Chaitra 5, a complaint was filed at the Imadol Police Station regarding the theft of various jewelry items from the room of Sajan Shrestha and Sangita Shrestha, permanent residents of Sindhupalchowk, who were living in Janaki Tole. Following the information received, the police team dispatched for investigation arrested five individuals involved in the theft and the purchase of the stolen goods. Among those arrested is a 13-year-old boy.

According to the police, the other arrestees include Sonam Lama, 23, from Sunsari; Laxmi Lama, 54, from Kavre; and Priyanka Karki, 31, from Okhaldhunga. All of them were currently residing in Tikathali, Lalitpur. Furthermore, Bhime Kami, 59, the owner of Kushal Gold and Silver Shop located in Madhyapur Thimi-1, Bhaktapur, has also been taken into custody on charges of purchasing the stolen jewelry.

The police recovered one pair of yellow metal earrings resembling gold, one top, one pair of anklets resembling silver, and NPR 9,100 in cash from their possession. All five arrested individuals are being held at the Satdobato Police Circle, and the investigation is proceeding after obtaining a six-day remand from the Lalitpur District Court for the theft case.
