Nepalgunj Customs Office Collects Only 52% of Revenue Target in First Eight Months of Fiscal Year

Banke. The Nepalgunj Customs Office has collected approximately 52 percent of its revenue target in the first eight months of the current fiscal year.

Chief of the Nepalgunj Customs Office, Janardan Poudel, informed that against the annual target of Rs 24.545782 billion set for the current fiscal year 2082/83, only Rs 12.754380 billion, or 51.97 percent of the target, was collected in the first eight months up to the end of Falgun.

According to him, there is a challenge to collect 48 percent of the revenue in the remaining four months to meet the target. The customs office has failed to meet its monthly revenue collection target in any month so far.

Revenue collection in the current fiscal year for the months of Shrawan, Bhadra, Asoj, Kartik, Mangsir, Poush, and Magh was only 74, 69, 87, 72, 83, 83, and 88 percent of the target, respectively. In the last fiscal year 2081/82, the Nepalgunj Customs collected 74.64 percent of its target, while in the preceding fiscal year 2080/81, it collected 63.35 percent.

Chief Poudel of the Nepalgunj Customs Office stated that despite expectations of increased import-export and customs revenue following the operation of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at the Nepal-India border point in Jamunaha, the target has not been met for the past few years.

According to Nepalgunj Customs data, in Shrawan of the current fiscal year, the target was Rs 1.866546 billion, with 74.14 percent, or Rs 1.383784 billion, collected. In Bhadra, the target was Rs 1.936454 billion, with 69.77 percent, or Rs 1.351009 billion, collected.

Similarly, in Asoj, the target was Rs 1.983130 billion, with 87.83 percent, or Rs 1.741605 billion, collected; in Kartik, the target was Rs 2.126130 billion, with 72.30 percent, or Rs 1.537082 billion, collected; in Mangsir, the target was Rs 1.963614 billion, with 83.45 percent, or Rs 1.638510 billion, collected; in Poush, the target was Rs 2.034521 billion, with Rs 1.694413 billion collected; in Magh, the target was Rs 1.694000 billion, with 88.24 percent, or Rs 1.700182 billion, collected; and in Falgun, the target was Rs 1.933819 billion, with 88.32 percent, or Rs 1.933819 billion, collected.

According to the statistics from the Nepalgunj Customs Office, in the previous fiscal year 2081/82, revenue collection was 73.67 percent of the target in Shrawan, 66.62 percent in Bhadra, 66.91 percent in Asoj, 76.44 percent in Kartik, 76.27 percent in Mangsir, 71.15 percent in Poush, 75.13 percent in Magh, and 73.68 percent in Falgun.
