Nepal Telecom Installs Tower in Jungle Area to Resolve Mobile Network Blackspots on East-West Highway

Nawalparasi. A Nepal Telecom tower has been constructed in the jungle area of Nawalpur to resolve the issue of mobile network failure faced by travelers along the main highway route.

Niroj Ghimire, Chief of the Nepal Telecom Kawasoti Branch, informed that the telecom tower was constructed in the jungle area between Arunkhola and Dumkibas along the East-West Highway. He stated that the network problem in that area has now been resolved after the tower was installed. He also shared that 2G and 4G services are now easily available since the tower came into operation.

Since there was no mobile network on the main highway, the District Disaster Management Committee had previously suggested expanding the network along the highway route due to the problem of delayed rescue operations during emergencies caused by communication failure.

Chief Ghimire mentioned that tower installation is also prioritized for the jungle areas along the highway sections of Chormara-Arunkhola and Danda-Arunkhola in Nawalpur.

Nepal Telecom has prioritized tower construction targeting the Kaligandaki Corridor and the hilly areas of the district. Under this initiative, tower construction at Bojhapokhari in Bulingtar has been completed and is preparing to come into operation within a few days. Furthermore, he stated that the contract agreement has been signed and work has commenced for tower construction at Thambesi in Bulingtar.

"As there is a network problem in the hilly areas, the tower at Bojhapokhari is coming into operation soon according to the office's plan to resolve it, and construction work has started at another location," said Chief Ghimire.

He also informed that permission has been obtained for tower construction at Dhurkot in Binayi Triveni in the hilly region of the district, and survey work has been completed and is currently in the approval process at Chardhare in Hupsekot.

Moreover, following complaints about network issues in the tourist area of Amaltari, permission has been granted for tower construction there, and work is expected to begin soon. He stated that permission for tower construction here was obtained so that tourists would not face problems, as it is a developing tourist area.

To improve the network, work is also underway to supply electricity to towers that were previously operating on solar power. Office Chief Ghimire explained that the work of installing electricity connections is moving forward to ensure regular and smooth service, as relying on solar systems causes network issues during winter or when there is no sunlight.
