Muslim Community Celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr Across Nepal

Muslim adherents are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today. The tradition is to celebrate the festival of Eid upon sighting the moon after observing fasts (roza) throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

It is also believed that this festival is specially celebrated to commemorate the victory achieved by the founder of Islam, Prophet Hazrat Muhammad, in the Battle of Badr.

Eid is considered a symbol of peace, harmony, and brotherhood. On this day, the Muslim community forgets past grievances and exchanges greetings by embracing one another. After 30 days of worship, there is a custom of exchanging sweets, giving gifts, and sharing love while expressing gratitude to Allah.

The Muslim community in Nepal has also celebrated Eid with great joy. Special prayers were offered in mosques in the capital Kathmandu and various other places across the country.

A crowd of devotees was seen at the mosques in Kathmandu since early morning. After the prayers, greetings were exchanged by embracing each other, and people from children to the elderly participated in the celebration wearing new clothes.

It is believed that the festival of Eid spreads the message of mutual harmony, tolerance, and brotherhood in society.
