Heavy Snowfall Disrupts Life in Nepal's Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve and High Hills of Baglung

Baglung. Heavy snowfall has occurred in Dhorpatan, Nepal's only hunting reserve, and the high hilly regions of Baglung. Dhorpatan was covered in white snow due to the snowfall that began on Friday afternoon. The snowfall has affected the daily lives of the locals.

Local Dhan Bahadur Bika of Dhorpatan Municipality-9 informed that the Dhorpatan valley and surrounding areas have turned white due to the snowfall. Local Bika stated that the snowfall has made it difficult to provide fodder to the livestock.

He mentioned that there had been light rain for the past few days. Stating that the snowfall is still continuous, he said that locals are facing problems even in moving around. Bika added that although most locals had ascended to Dhorpatan from areas like Bobang and Adhikari Chaur for potato planting, the snowfall has caused disruptions.

Bika said, "Snowfall used to occur only occasionally in the month of Chaitra, but this time it snowed as the heat began to rise. At this time, the residents of Dhorpatan were busy planting potatoes, but the work has been affected by the snowfall." He added, "We needed some rain, but the snow has made daily life difficult."

Local Tulram Pun stated that the extreme cold has increased due to the snowfall. He mentioned that due to the blizzard that started at night, it is difficult to go out, move around, and feed fodder and feed to the livestock.
