Authorities Urge Public Caution Amid Severe Dust Storms and High Winds in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has urged the general public to exercise caution as intense dust storms and high winds are sweeping across various locations, including the Kathmandu Valley, with the possibility of further intensification.

The Authority, through a social media update at approximately 4:45 PM on Friday, highlighted potential risks such as falling roadside trees, toppling electricity and telephone poles, snapping power lines, and roofs made of corrugated iron being blown away due to the windstorms. Therefore, the Authority requested everyone to avoid risky travel and remain in safe locations until the wind subsides.

The Authority specifically urged students and their guardians to be extra vigilant and take special care, especially as it is currently the time when school buses are departing.

Emphasis was placed on everyone adopting precautionary measures to avoid potential damage.
