Nepal Telecom Moves to Phase Out 3G Services, Urges Users to Upgrade to 4G

Kathmandu. Nepal Telecom has initiated the process to completely shut down its 3G services in the near future and transition to 4G.

 Stating the objective is to make the service high-quality and modern, the telecom informed customers via a notice on Friday to upgrade to 4G as soon as possible for users still using old SIM cards that only support 2G and 3G.

In this regard, the company stated that it has started informing customers using old SIMs via message and system. Nepal Telecom has requested such customers to visit their nearest office to obtain a free 4G SIM card. 

To change the SIM, customers must carry one of the following government identification documents: Citizenship Certificate, National Identity Card, Passport, or Driving License. Furthermore, Nepal Telecom stated that customers already using 4G SIM cards can activate 4G and VoLTE services by dialing *444# from their mobile phones.
