Suspension Bridge Built Over Triyuga River in Udayapur After Concrete Bridge Collapse

Udayapur. A suspension bridge has been constructed over the Triyuga River at Siwai Sundarpur Belhi in Chaudandigadhi Municipality-5, Udayapur. The suspension bridge was built at the same location after the under-construction concrete bridge was washed away by floods.

According to Kaluman Lama, Mayor of Chaudandigadhi Municipality, the construction of the 280-meter-long and five-meter-wide bridge cost approximately NPR 6 million. The lack of a concrete bridge at that location had caused difficulties for residents of Wards 10, 5, and 9 on the other side of the Triyuga River from Chaudandigadhi Municipality.

During the monsoon season, they were forced to cross the river using boats. Deputy Mayor Manikadevi Dulal stated that after the construction of the suspension bridge, it has become easier for nearly five thousand residents of that area to travel to Beltar market. Construction of a concrete bridge at Belhi on the Triyuga River began back in 2067 BS. NPR 112.7 million was allocated for this purpose. In 2078 BS, floods in the Triyuga washed away three pillars and the slab of the concrete bridge.
