President Holds Decision on Recommending Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal for National Assembly Membership

Kathmandu. President Ramchandra Paudel has put on hold the government's decision to recommend Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal for appointment as a member of the National Assembly.

The cabinet meeting held on Chaitra 1 had decided to recommend Aryal for appointment to the National Assembly. Aryal himself had informed journalists about this decision after the cabinet meeting.

Although the cabinet's recommendation reached the President's Office on Chaitra 3, President Paudel has not made a decision.

A source close to the President informed that the decision is currently on hold. The source claims that President Paudel will make a decision on this matter only after understanding the concern of the new government.

'The President has currently held the cabinet's recommendation to appoint the interim government's Home Minister to the National Assembly,' the source told Ratopati, 'As a government with a comfortable majority from the same party is expected to be formed, he has informally told his secretariat and close associates that he will make the appointment decision only after considering the concern of the new government.'

Prime Minister Sushila Karki was criticized for recommending Aryal for National Assembly membership while he was still the Home Minister. A writ has also been filed in the Supreme Court against Aryal's recommendation for National Assembly membership.
