Hotel Association Nepal Chairman Stresses Tourism as Key to Economic Prosperity

Kathmandu. Binayak Shah, Chairman of the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), has emphasized that the tourism sector must be made the main foundation for the country's economic prosperity.

He stated that although the tourism sector can contribute significantly to the country's economic activities, there is currently no clear roadmap. Chairman Shah said that the government to be formed in the next five years must bring a concrete plan and collaborate with the private sector based on that plan.

Shah suggested that the government formulate a plan with the goal of bringing in 5 million tourists within the next five years. He mentioned the need to focus on necessary policies, laws, and infrastructure development to achieve that goal.

Shah stated the necessity of extensive promotion at the national and international levels to attract tourists. According to him, the private sector is already active in promotional activities. He added that the private sector is ready to work with more energy if the government brings a clear policy regarding the role and work of the private sector. He also mentioned that the tourism sector is excited about the formation of a government nearing a two-thirds majority. —News Agency Nepal
