Newly Elected Proportional Representation Lawmakers Arrive to Receive Certificates from Election Commission

Kathmandu. As the Election Commission prepares to hand over certificates to those elected under the Proportional Representation (PR) system for the House of Representatives on Thursday, lawmakers have arrived for the process.

One lawmaker arrived at the Election Commission to receive her certificate accompanied by her infant child. She is RSP lawmaker Samina Miyan. Similarly, some lawmakers arrived at the Election Commission in expensive cars, while others arrived using public transport and even motorcycles.

One hundred and ten lawmakers are elected to the House of Representatives under the PR system. The Commission has already determined the allocation of seats based on the votes received by political parties: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will receive 57 seats, Nepali Congress 20, CPN-UML 16, CPN (Maoist Centre) 9, and both Shram Sanskriti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party will receive 4 seats each.
