Compensation Dispute Halts East-West Railway Construction in Bardibas

Jaleshwor. Construction of the East-West Railway has been stopped due to a dispute over compensation. Work has been halted in the Bardibas Municipality area because of a compensation dispute involving 14 individuals.

Rail service has already commenced between Jaynagar in India and the railway station in Bhangaha Municipality, Mahottari District, with support from the Government of India. However, work from Bhangaha to Bardibas is stalled due to the non-payment of compensation.

Compensation amounting to seven to eight crore rupees is yet to be paid to the fourteen affected individuals. The department has stated that it has requested the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport for the release of the funds.

Although the affected residents of Bardibas have repeatedly visited the Railway Department seeking compensation, they ultimately halted the railway track construction work in Bardibas after the Railway Department failed to heed their repeated warnings of stopping work due to the non-receipt of compensation.
