Man Kills Stepmother, Seriously Injures Sister in Kanchanpur Attack

Dhangadhi. In Kanchanpur's Dodhara Chandani Municipality-4 at Mānaniya Chowk, a man attacked his stepmother with a sharp weapon, killing her, and left his sister seriously injured.

According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, local resident Hari Prasad Shrestha, 55, attacked his 75-year-old stepmother, Bindra Shrestha, with a sharp weapon at approximately 8:45 PM on Tuesday, Chaitra 3. Police stated that Bindra Shrestha died on the spot due to the attack.

In the same incident, Hari also attacked his 50-year-old sister, Bhagwati Devi Majhi. Bhagwati, who lives with her parents despite being married, sustained deep injuries to her head and right hand. Her condition is critical, and she is currently receiving treatment at Mahakali Provincial Hospital in Mahendranagar.

Preliminary police investigation suggests that a long-standing dispute over land ownership was the cause of the conflict. It is speculated that Hari attacked his family members in the middle of the night due to this old enmity.

The accused, Hari Prasad Shrestha, fled immediately after the incident. According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, police teams have been deployed across the district and in border areas to search for the absconding Shrestha. Police are continuing further investigation into the incident.
