Body of Missing Daughter Found After Mother's Body Recovered in Surkhet Incident

Surkhet. In the incident where a mother went missing with her two children on Sunday, the body of the daughter has now been found after the mother's body was recovered.

Maya Kathayat, 38, her 11-year-old daughter Asha Kathayat, and 5-year-old son Deepak Kathayat, all from Gurbhakot Municipality-12, Piple, had gone out of contact.

Among them, Maya's body was found in the Bheri River on Monday evening. Similarly, the body of the daughter, Asha, was found on Tuesday morning at a place called Bhamka in Gurbhakot Municipality-13, the Surkhet police stated.

The condition of the son remains unknown. Maya had gone out of contact on Sunday morning along with her 11-year-old daughter Asha Kathayat and 5-year-old son Deepak Kathayat. Maya's husband, Bhupendra Kathayat, reported the matter to the Gumi police post in the evening.

Following this, a police team of 4 led by Police Senior Head Constable Gopal Gurung and local residents were deployed for the search. 'A bag, shawl, slippers, and mobile phone used by Maya were found on the bank of the Bheri River, about 3 kilometers from the house,' said Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohanjung Budhathapa of the District Police Office, Surkhet.

Subsequently, the police suspected that Maya might have jumped into the Bheri River. Accordingly, 35 police personnel and local individuals actively participated in the search operation starting early Monday morning.
