Police Intensify Crackdown on Overloaded Vehicles Along Prithvi Highway

Dhading. Police have recently shown special proactiveness in maintaining traffic discipline and reducing road accidents along the Prithvi Highway.

The District Traffic Police Office has tightened monitoring, especially because the risk has increased due to vehicles carrying goods beyond their capacity or in an unsafe manner, i.e., carrying 'overload'.

More than 20 vehicle drivers are being penalized daily from the Gajuri area alone. Police Inspector Shishir Thapa of the District Traffic Police Office informed that this morning, during a vehicle inspection near Ghatbesi in Gajuri Rural Municipality, more than 15 drivers carrying overloaded goods against regulations were fined.

According to Thapa, drivers whose vehicles were not in good condition, those who loaded goods obscuring the number plate, and those carrying goods unsafely have been brought under the purview of action.

According to the Transport Management Act, it is not permissible to carry more load than specified or to carry goods outside the vehicle's 'body'. Traffic police have the provision to fine such offending vehicles on the spot. If the mistake is repeated multiple times, there is a provision for suspending the driver's license.
