Rukum East DSP Under Investigation Over Alleged Irregularities in Election Police Recruitment

Rukum East District Police Office DSP Umashankar Prasad Yadav is under investigation. Yadav has been removed from his responsibility at the District Police Office and ordered to report to the Lumbini Province Police Office for the investigation.

The Lumbini Province Police Office initiated the investigation against him following a 'controversy' surrounding three election police personnel recruited for the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21. DIG of Lumbini, Bhupendra Khatri, informed Ratopati that a committee led by SP Pushpa Malla has been formed for the investigation. He stated, 'DSP Yadav has been recalled from the district to the province for the duration of the investigation.'

DSP Keshav Gyawali has now been assigned to Rukum East. Gyawali was previously working at the Lumbini Province Police Office. DSP Yadav is a local of Bara. He had called three individuals from Bara to Rukum East for recruitment as election police.

The incident came to light after the election police protested, alleging that they were recruited but not provided with training or assigned duties. The accusation is that he recruited individuals related to him, provided them with benefits without training, and did not deploy them for duty.
