Malua Pond Emerges as Captivating Tourist Destination Along Mundum Trail in Bhojpur

Bhojpur. Malua Pond, located in Chhinamkhu of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality-2, is gradually becoming an attractive destination for tourists. This pond, which is encountered during the journey on the Mundum Trail—one of the hundred must-visit tourist destinations declared by the government—is gaining popularity among tourists due to its natural beauty.

Situated at an altitude of approximately 2,500 meters above sea level, this pond lies in the middle of a grassy meadow. The surrounding greenery, tranquil environment, and natural beauty attract visitors. The mesmerizing view of this pond, which remains full of water year-round, brings special joy to trekkers.

Malua Pond is also becoming known as a resting spot for domestic and international tourists trekking the Mundum Trail. Tourists embarking on the trek stop here to rest for a while, take photos, and observe the natural scenery.

To enhance tourist attraction, fish fry have also been released into the pond. The surrounding meadow and beautiful environment make the area even more appealing. Locals say that during the spring season, the blooming rhododendrons and other vegetation around the area make the scenery even more enchanting.

Saroj Basnet, Chairman of Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality, informed that the rural municipality is focusing on the conservation and management of the pond area, keeping tourism promotion in mind. According to him, the importance of this area is increasing as the number of tourists coming via the Mundum Trail grows.

The rural municipality has stated that it plans to further organize the Malua Pond area along with promoting the trail. Due to its natural beauty, peaceful environment, and connection with the Mundum Trail, Malua Pond is developing as an important tourist destination in the district recently.
