US-Iran Tensions Escalate as American Forces Strike Key Iranian Island Target

Tehran. Conflict between the United States and Iran is intensifying. According to President Donald Trump, the US has bombed a military target on Kharg Island, which is significant to Iran's oil network.

This island is the location of Iran's main oil export terminal. Trump warned that the US military completely destroyed military targets on the island and could target oil infrastructure if necessary.

Previously, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, had warned that such attacks would provoke a harsh response from Iran. A large explosion occurred in Iran's capital, Tehran, on Friday. The explosion took place in the same area where thousands of people were participating in the annual pro-Palestinian rally, chanting slogans against Israel and the United States.

Some high-ranking government officials were also present at this rally. It was reported that there were no casualties from the explosion, but the incident clarified the firm decisions and retaliatory capabilities of both sides in the conflict.

To further strengthen US forces in the war, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and the amphibious assault ship Tripoli have been dispatched to the Middle East. These Marine units specialize not only in amphibious assaults but also in embassy security, civilian evacuation, and disaster relief operations.

US officials stated that this deployment does not necessarily signal a ground invasion. Previously, the US Navy had already deployed 12 ships in the Arabian Sea, including the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and eight destroyers. With the addition of the Tripoli, this force will be the second largest in the region.

Iran continues its missile and drone attacks on Israel and neighboring Gulf countries. The Strait of Hormuz, through which about one-fifth of the world's trade oil passes, is frequently closed. This is putting pressure on oil supply in the Gulf region and on international markets.

The humanitarian crisis is deepening. In Lebanon, Israeli attacks on Iran-backed Hezbollah militants have resulted in approximately 800 deaths and 850,000 displaced persons. In the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in Lebanon, 773 people have died, including more than 100 children and 18 health workers.

The US has attacked more than 15,000 Iranian targets since the beginning of the war. The US Secretary of Defense reported that more than a thousand targets are being attacked daily. Six crew members died in a US fuel supply aircraft crash in western Iraq.

This accident is the fourth of four publicly confirmed US aircraft crashes. Previously, three US fighter jets were damaged by friendly fire coming from a neighboring country from Kuwait.

This conflict has severely impacted the global economy, the security situation in the Gulf region, and the humanitarian crisis. There is an increased risk to oil and energy supply, millions of civilians have been displaced, and property has been destroyed. The strong retaliation and war strategies of both sides have made this conflict more complex and dangerous.
