Nepali Film 'Lalima' Premieres Nationwide, Benefiting from Election-Related Lull

The film 'Lalima' has been released across the country starting today, Friday. Due to the elections, it has received the opportunity for a solo screening as other films are not showing.

The film stars Roshni Karki in the lead role, with Usha Rajak, Shishir Wangdel, Jeevan Bhattarai, Sabin Kattel, Ghanshyam Joshi, and Sushma Niraula in major roles.

The film is directed by Roshan Miraj. According to Miraj, this film is based on the life experiences of three thousand sex workers. Roshni portrays the role of 'Lalima' in the film, while Usha plays her mother.

'The story of the film is related to Lalima's difficult journey. Due to an incident, Lalima's mute mother is sent to jail. In the process of getting her mother released from prison, Lalima is pushed towards the harsh and dark side of the city. Following this, Lalima is forced to live through physical, emotional, and mental suffering,' added director Miraj.

The film, made in collaboration with Faith Astha and Amplify Change, has Reena Lama as the executive producer. Director Miraj also wrote the film himself.
