Lawmaker Questions State Failure After Brutal Rape and Murder of Teenager in Surkhet

Kathmandu. The horrific incident of the brutal gang rape and murder of 16-year-old Inisa Bika in Surkhet has shocked the nation. Reacting to this heinous crime, RSP lawmaker Shishir Khanal has questioned the failure of the state's security apparatus and system.

Publishing his views on the social media platform Facebook, Khanal stated that it is a matter of serious concern that young girls are losing even the fundamental right to live safely. Lawmaker Khanal expressed deep condolences to the victim's family and prayed for the eternal peace of Inisa's soul.

He clarified that such cruel acts of sexual violence, rape, and murder against women and children are unacceptable under any circumstances. He drew the serious attention of the Home Ministry to immediately and impartially investigate this incident and bring the culprits under strict legal purview. Stating that it is imperative for the victim's family to receive justice, Khanal emphasized that action against the guilty alone is not enough; rather, the entire legal structure needs to be reformed.

According to Lawmaker Khanal, besides punishing the criminals, the legal structure must be made stronger and more effective to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future. He concluded that it is the primary responsibility of the state to create an environment where women and children can live with dignity, free from fear and insecurity.
