16 Candidates Lose Deposits in Baglung Elections

Baglung. Sixteen candidates lost their deposits in the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21 in Baglung. There were 23 candidates in the electoral field. Out of them, only seven candidates managed to save their deposits.

The deposits of candidates including Krishna Prasad Adhikari of the CPN-Rastriya Janamorcha alliance were forfeited. There were 11 candidates in Baglung Constituency No. 1. Out of them, the deposits of eight candidates were forfeited.

While Sushil Khadka of RSP won with 20,927 votes, Adhikari of the CPN-Janamorcha alliance received only 4,521 votes, which was not enough to save his deposit.

According to the rule that a deposit is forfeited if 10 percent of the total valid votes are not secured, there were 47,061 valid votes in this constituency. Bhim Bahadur Shrees Rana of the Nepali Congress, who came in second, received 11,944 votes, while Hirabahadur KC of CPN-UML, who was in third place, received only 8,640 votes.

The deposits of candidates from RPP, Shram Sanskriti Party, Prolopa, National Republic Nepal, Mongol National Organization, Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), and Nepal Manavtavadi Party were forfeited.

Kalyan Acharya of RPP received 523 votes, Lalbahadur Gharti of Shram Sanskriti Party received 254, Chitra Sapkota of Prolopa received 60, Guma Kumari Rana of Mongol National Organization received 40, Tek Bahadur KC of Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) received 80, and Bhaktabahadur Bika of Nepal Manavtavadi Party received 24 votes. There were 98,046 voters in this constituency, out of which 48,932 votes were cast.

In Baglung Constituency No. 2, Som Sharma of RSP won with 12,647 votes, while Tekraj Poudel of the Nepali Congress received 11,868 votes. Gyan Nath Gaire of CPN received 10,709 votes, and Manju Sharma Chalise of UML received 7,864 votes.

The deposits of other candidates were forfeited. Harka Bahadur Pun of Shram Sanskriti Party received 564 votes, Purna Bahadur Gharti Magar of Janata Samajwadi Party received 315, Anchal Shahi of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) received 243, Nar Bahadur Buda of National Republic Nepal received 197, Lokendra Ghimire of Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) received 79, Tek Prasad Kami of Nepal Manavtavadi Party received 76, Padam Bahadur Kunwar of Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party received 43, and Jun Bahadur Thapa Magar of Mongol National Organization received 21 votes.

Out of a total of 95,335 voters in this constituency, 47,207 votes were cast, out of which 44,626 votes were valid.
