Rupa Rural Municipality in Kaski Produces 100,000 Liters of Honey in a Year

Kaski. Rupa Rural Municipality in Kaski has produced 100,000 liters of honey in one year. The production of honey has increased as the rural municipality has been increasing its investment to attract farmers towards beekeeping.

The rural municipality started a sample test for beekeeping three years ago, and seeing its potential, the local government launched a subsidy program to encourage farmers, informed the Chairman of the rural municipality, Navaraj Ojha.

He stated that 2,100 beehives have been distributed to the farmers within the rural municipality at a 50 percent subsidy, and informed that 100,000 liters of honey were produced within the rural municipality this year.

Mentioning that there is no problem in marketing the produced honey, he said that honey is being sold from door to door. He added that about 700 people have become self-employed within the rural municipality alongside beekeeping. According to him, the attraction towards beekeeping is particularly increasing in areas like Rupa 1 Deupur Besi, Rupa 2's Sirkutan, Ward No. 3's Chhapakharka, Ward No. 4's Mau Danda, Rupa 5's Deurali/Deurali Phedi, Rupa 6's Bhirchowk/near the river, and Rupa 7's Kaure/Hanshpur/Majhthana.
