Cargo Ship Catches Fire in Strait of Hormuz After Being Struck by Unknown Projectile

Tehran. A cargo ship has caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route in the Middle East. According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the fire erupted after the vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile. 

According to the Reuters news agency, the ship requested emergency assistance, and the crew members have begun the process of abandoning ship to reach a safe location.

Meanwhile, the UKMTO reported that another vessel in the same region was damaged by a projectile strike on Wednesday. Analysts suggest that security risks in the Strait of Hormuz region have intensified due to conflicts related to Iran.

 Concerns have been raised that such incidents could seriously affect international energy supply and maritime trade, as a large portion of the world's oil supply passes through this route.
