Police Seize Over NPR 600,000 Worth of Smuggled Goods in Rupandehi District

Bhairahawa. Police have seized goods worth over NPR 600,000 that were illegally brought in by evading customs duties from various locations in Rupandehi district.

Police Superintendent Janak Bahadur Shahi of the District Police Office informed that a team deployed from the District Police Office seized various goods worth approximately NPR 629,200 during checks at different locations in the district.

According to him, the seized goods have been sent to the Animal Quarantine Office, Bhairahawa, and the Customs Office, Belhiya, for necessary action. Approximately 20 quintals of raw bananas, valued at about NPR 124,000, were seized from Basantpur, Omshatiya Rural Municipality-4. Similarly, 180 pairs of ladies' slippers worth NPR 27,000 were confiscated from Purba Mainahiya Newabasti, Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality-3.

Police stated that 141 units of elbow sockets, 8.5 liters of mobile oil, one sack of Kurkure, and one sack of Surf, valued at NPR 72,500, were recovered from Khalbat, Mayadevi Rural Municipality-6.

Approximately 130 kg of broiler chickens, being transported using two motorcycles from Kerwani, Devdaha Municipality-4, were seized. The value of these chickens is estimated to be NPR 122,000. Likewise, oil, biscuits, Sprite, matches, and other grocery items worth NPR 22,100 were seized from Lakhnautia, Rohini Rural Municipality-3. Five cartons of biscuits, one sack of sugar, and two sacks of flour, valued at approximately NPR 111,600, were seized from Prasiaghat, Kotahimai Rural Municipality-3, also being transported using two motorcycles.

Furthermore, 300 pieces of baby sets, 400 pieces of baby vests, and five iron chains, worth NPR 150,000, were recovered from Buddha Colony, Siddharthanagar Municipality-3. Krishna Kumar Chand, spokesperson for the Rupandehi District Police Office, informed that the seized goods have been sent to the relevant agencies and necessary legal proceedings have been initiated.
