Iran's Assembly of Experts Claims New Supreme Leader Has Been Selected

Tehran. It is claimed that a new Supreme Leader has been selected in Iran. Ahmad Alamolhoda, a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts, stated that the selection process for the new leader has been completed.

According to the semi-official Mehr News Agency, Alamolhoda announced that the election for the Supreme Leader has taken place and a new leader has been chosen. However, an official announcement has not yet been made. According to him, the responsibility to publicly announce the decision now rests with Hosseini Bushehri, the head of the Assembly of Experts' secretariat.

The name of the new Supreme Leader is expected to be made public only after Bushehri formally announces it. In Iran, the Supreme Leader is considered the country's most powerful position. The religious council called the Assembly of Experts holds the constitutional authority to select the Supreme Leader.
