Rastriya Swatantra Party's Jagdish Kharel Secures Decisive Victory in Lalitpur-2 Constituency

Lalitpur. Jagdish Kharel, the candidate from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Lalitpur Constituency No. 2, has achieved a resounding victory. According to the final results of the counting completed on Sunday, Kharel was elected to the House of Representatives, leaving his competitors far behind.

Kharel secured 39,941 votes, while his closest competitor, Prem Krishna Maharjan of the Nepali Congress, had to settle for only 7,420 votes. This victory for the RSP deals a major blow to the established political forces in Lalitpur.

In this constituency, the candidate from Ujyalo Nepal Party, Rajaram Tandukar, received 5,547 votes, while the CPN-UML candidate, Prem Bahadur Maharjan, was limited to fourth place with 4,536 votes. The vote difference of over 32,000 between the victorious Kharel and the second-place Maharjan clearly illustrates the strength of the wave favoring the RSP in this area. Out of a total of 89,082 eligible voters, 61,975 votes were cast.

Reacting after his victory, Jagdish Kharel claimed that the country is now moving forward in a new manner, and the RSP will lead that path. He interpreted this victory not as a win for an individual or a party, but as a victory for the entire nation, committing to move forward by taking all sides along with him. He stated that the trust placed in him by the people makes him feel more responsible and accountable in the campaign to build the nation.

Kharel also expressed his determination to gradually fulfill the 'Hundred Promises of Transformation' that the RSP presented to the public before the election. He mentioned that his role in the parliament would be effective and that he would prioritize raising the issues of the people. Kharel noted that since the voters have given a clear mandate in favor of change, it is now his turn to deliver results.
