CPN Suffers Significant Setback in House of Representatives Elections Compared to Previous Polls

The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has suffered a major blow in the House of Representatives elections. The CPN, which won 32 seats in the 2079 BS elections, has only won 2 seats this time and is leading in only five constituencies.

Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has won in Rukum East-1, and Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has won in Kalikot-1. As of 5 PM, Barshaman Pun is leading in Rolpa-1, Dhan Bahadur Budha in Dolpa-1, Ramesh Malla in Salyan-1, Gopal Sharma in Rukum West-1, and Yubaraj Dulal in Sindhupalchok-2.

While the CPN holds a wide lead in Rolpa-1, Dolpa-1, and Rukum West-1, their candidates are ahead by narrow margins in Salyan-1 and Sindhupalchok-2.

In the previous election, Ram Kumar Rai won in Khotang-1, Sudan Kirati in Bhojpur-1, Amanlal Modi in Morang-4, Suryaman Tamang in Kavre-1, Hit Bahadur Tamang in Nuwakot-1, Madhav Sapkota in Sindhupalchok-1, Lekhnath Dahal in Sindhuli-2, and Ganga Karki in Dolkha-1, all representing the former CPN (Maoist Centre).

Furthermore, Prachanda won in Gorkha-2, Devendra Poudel in Baglung-2, Rekha Sharma in Dang-2, Purnabahadur Ghartimagar in Rukum East-1, Barshaman Pun in Rolpa-1, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi in Kalikot-1, Shakti Bahadur Basnet in Jajarkot-1, Janardan Sharma in Rukum West-1, and Chhiring Damdul Lama in Humla-1.

According to the latest election results, the CPN has lost Jajarkot-1, Morang-4, Sindhuli-2, Dang-2, and Baglung-2. They have secured Rukum East-1 and Kalikot-1. Prachanda won in Rukum East-1, and Mahendra Shahi retained his seat in Kalikot-1.

In Khotang-1, which they won last time, Aaren Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party is leading, and Dhurvaraj Rai of the same party is leading in Bhojpur-1. Santosh Rajbanshi of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has won in Morang-4. Madhu Kumar Chaulagai of the RSP is leading in Kavre-1, and Bharat Prasad Parajuli of the RSP is leading in Sindhupalchok-1.

In Nuwakot-1, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat of the Nepali Congress is leading, and Jagdish Kharel of the RSP is leading in Dolkha-1. In Gorkha-2, Kabindra Burlakoti of the RSP is ahead, and Jayapati Rokaya of the Nepali Congress is leading by a slim margin in Humla-1.
