Harkaraj Rai's Labor Culture Party Leads in Four Constituencies in Koshi Province Election Tally

Biratnagar. The Labor Culture Party led by Harkaraj Rai (Sampang) is ahead in 4 out of the 28 constituencies in Koshi Province. The party is leading in Sunsari 1, Bhojpur, Khotang, and Ilam 1.

The party's chairman, Hark Sampang, is leading in Sunsari's Constituency No. 1. He has secured 7,813 votes so far, while Goma Tamang of RSP is in second place with 5,871 votes.

Similarly, in Bhojpur, the Labor Culture Party's candidate Dhruvraj Rai is leading with 5,367 votes. He is being closely followed by Sherdhan Rai, a central secretary of CPN-UML, who has garnered 4,214 votes.

Furthermore, the Labor Culture Party is also ahead in Khotang. The party's candidate, Aren Rai, has secured 5,744 votes, while Bir Kaji Rai of the Nepali Congress is trailing with 4,935 votes.

Likewise, the Labor Culture Party is leading in Ilam 1. Binod Nembang Limbu, the candidate from the party, is ahead with 2,092 votes, while Kajiman Kagate of CPN-UML is in second place with 1,958 votes.

In Koshi, RSP is leading in 15 constituencies: 5 in Jhapa, 4 in Morang, 4 in Sunsari, and 2 in Udayapur. Santosh Rajbanshi and Rubina Acharya from the party have already won in Morang Constituencies 4 and 6, respectively.

In previous elections, CPN-UML used to dominate Koshi Province. In the last election in 2079 BS, CPN-UML won 13 seats.

At that time, CPN-UML swept both constituencies in Taplejung and Panchthar, including Ilam. They won in Jhapa's constituencies 2, 4, and 5. In Morang, they won in Constituency No. 2, and in Sunsari, they won in Constituencies 2 and 3. CPN-UML candidates also won in Dhankuta and Solukhumbu constituencies. CPN-UML secured victories in a total of 13 constituencies across the province.

In Taplejung, which CPN-UML won previously, CPN-UML's Khitij Thebe is leading this time as well. He is being followed by Gajendra Prasad Tumyang of the Nepali Congress. Similarly, in Ilam 2, CPN-UML's Suhang Nemwang is leading. He is being followed by Sudip Rai of the Labor Culture Party. CPN-UML had won Ilam 2 in the previous election as well.

Furthermore, in Dhankuta, CPN-UML's Rajendra Rai is leading. He is also being followed by San Bahadur Rai of the Labor Culture Party. Rajendra Rai had won consecutively twice before in Dhankuta.

CPN-UML appears likely to lose the 3 seats it previously won in Jhapa, 1 in Morang, 2 in Sunsari, Bhojpur, 2 in Udayapur, and Panchthar. Preliminary results from Sankhuwasabha are yet to arrive. Additionally, CPN-UML is significantly behind in Solukhumbu, which it won previously.

On the other hand, the Nepali Congress is trailing in Morang's Constituencies 3 and 6, and Udayapur 1, which it won in the past. The Nepali Congress is leading in Solukhumbu and Okhaldhunga. Moreover, the current Communist Party of Nepal, formed by the merger of the then CPN (Maoist Center) and several other parties, seems unlikely to retain its previous 3 seats in terms of numbers.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress has retained its legacy in Tehrathum. Santosh Subba from the Congress has been elected there. Sita Gurung from the Congress was elected from there previously.
