CPN Chairman Prachanda Wins Rukum East Seat Amidst Defeat of Other Former Prime Ministers

Rukum East. Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), has won the House of Representatives election from Rukum East by a massive margin.

According to the final vote count completed on Friday, Prachanda secured 10,240 votes, maintaining his winning streak.

Addressing his supporters and voters after the victory, Prachanda stated that a strange and peculiar situation has arisen in this election, asserting that he is the only one set to be elected while all other former prime ministers have been defeated.

He expressed gratitude to the voters, noting that the people have shown faith in him alone to send him to parliament while top and senior leaders of the country were defeated in the electoral field.

During his address, Prachanda also mentioned that he feels a greater responsibility has now been placed upon him.

He said, 'It has become a very strange situation in the country where I am the only former prime minister to be elected. You have sent me as perhaps the only leader among the senior leaders of the party to win. And I believe that I also have to take on much of the party's responsibility.'

He added, 'I want to caution everyone not to dare to look down upon Prachanda just because a few seats were won. We all know what happens to others when a lion walks in the jungle.'

Coordinator Prachanda recalled repeatedly speaking in parliament, warning UML and Congress not to become arrogant about a two-thirds majority, as it would be a mistake. He recalled that he was sent out because of the arrogance of numbers while fighting against corruption and striving for development and prosperity.

He said, 'At that time, I challenged and said that numbers do not measure everything. We have seen what happened in Bangladesh even when a single party had a two-thirds majority.' He urged the parties that won many seats to avoid arrogance.

'Based on history, I can be a mentor to everyone,' he said. 'I have already seen a wave like yours back in 2064 BS, so based on experience, I am ready to work together with everyone.'
