Preliminary Results Show Rastriya Swatantra Party Taking Early Lead in Nepal's House of Representatives Elections

Kathmandu. The process of announcing the vote count results from the House of Representatives elections held on Thursday is ongoing.

According to information received from the Election Officer and Chief Election Officer's offices, preliminary results from 38 constituencies across the country were made public by 7:30 AM on Friday. Among these, candidates from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) have taken an initial lead in 33 locations.

Nepali Congress candidates are leading in 3 constituencies, and candidates from CPN-UML are leading in 2 constituencies. RSP candidates have taken the lead in most constituencies within the Kathmandu Valley.

In Jhapa-5, RSP senior leader Balen Shah has significantly overtaken CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Shah secured 1476 votes while Oli received only 384 votes.

Election offices have stated that in many other constituencies, counting will only begin after the ballot boxes are collected and an all-party meeting is held. As the counting is ongoing, there is a possibility of further changes in the preliminary results.
